History
In the 1940s, working women were making inroads to the business world. Women were changing the face of industry and having a positive economic impact. Hilary A. Bufton Jr., a Kansas City businessman, recognized women's potential, but saw the need for an organization to support and empower them to reach their educational and career goals. As a result, in 1949, Bufton founded ABWA. Education and training remains the cornerstone of ABWA today.
